Overview
Traditional Indian sports like kho-kho, lagori, and kite flying are fading due to a lack of awareness, companionship, and access to local events. These games, rooted in simplicity and fun rather than competition, brought people together and created a sense of joy and connection.
To address their decline, I designed a platform that connects enthusiasts of these niche sports, helping them find like-minded individuals, join communities, and participate in meetups. The platform also promotes local sports events, making them more accessible and encouraging social engagement.
The concept focuses on creating a centralized platform, "Niche Sports Hub," to connect enthusiasts of niche sports, encouraging active involvement in local sports and activities while uniting scattered individuals passionate about these sports.

The lack of awareness about local sports events limits participation and the sense of community. This initiative aims to increase involvement by providing a platform that connects events with a wider audience, fostering camaraderie and engagement.

By using hybrid card sorting (Optimal sort), site map, user flows, and low-fidelity wireframing, I structured the platform's layout, streamlined user interactions, and refined the design, providing insights into design and functionality before progressing to high-fidelity prototypes.
By mapping out the main task flows, I streamlined essential user actions like joining communities, creating meetups, enrolling in events, and seamlessly onboarding users to capture their sports preferences.
Users can efficiently filter their preferred games to discover and join relevant communities. They can explore key details such as location, number of team members, and badges earned, helping them understand the community's activity level before joining.
Users can create local meetups within a community or in a personal chat with a friend. They can customize the event by adding details such as event name, sport type, date, time, location or booked arena, and a description. The creator can pin the invite in the chat, allowing members to easily access it and track the number of participants who have joined.
This is an additional feature which enables communities to live stream their favorite sports together by creating private rooms within the app. These rooms include a live interactive chat, allowing members to engage and share their thoughts in real time.
The onboarding flow lets users create profiles with their name, location, sport preference, and availability, enabling the app to recommend relevant communities to join.
